New Autumn Poem

SWEPT AWAY
By Don Segal

We waltzed through leaves
The rake and I,
And swept them into piles.

Yellow and veined
Or brown and fragile
They lay together for a while

And watched their friends
Still somewhat green
Flutter in the sky.

The days pile up,
And are swept away.
