Three Worlds (after M.C. Escher)

Swallows skim the pond
Dip and dive
For insects in soft rain.

Ever was there a fish
That snapped at the surface
But grabbed feathers for a meal?

And the swallow,
Pulled below for a minute,
How strange.

Could I reach out to you
And pull in a kernel
Of what flows between us?
I would cradle it for a while,
Then let it float back,
How strange.
