Human Frailty

We interface, you and I,
Through the skin we see
And the words it speaks
From a well of thought
So deep and wide.

Sometimes the muscle and the skin
Twitch or pinch the one within
Or a thought will twist and turn
To release a long lost hurt
That crosses that small space
Those times we initiate,
You and I.

With a well so deep and wide
There should be time when thoughts arise
To modify their slippery course
Before they coil and spring across
The hesitating emptiness
That thickens just as we regret
You and I.
