Ghostly Apparel

A shroud of skin draped
In structured color and crease
Crumpled, rumpled in a heap.

Animating motivation evaporated
Or has found its way through spaces
In a life perceived, neither full nor empty.

Guilt commandments have disappeared
Along with stares or praises
That once formed and formulated
The what and the when
Of the should or should not
Do, and so occupied the time
Of the space taken up by an
Extension of birth.

Desires have lost their attraction,
Like chalky chocolate
Or watery gum,
Where did the flavors go?
