Maxfield Parrish Skies

Jewel tones of blue and teal,
That fascinate my eyes,
Natural yet so unreal,
Those Maxfield Parrish skies.

The evenings outside my door
Look and seem the same,
But a search for that peacefulness,
Always is in vain.

The dreamy maidens making rings
Ripple through the lake,
Are unlike anyone I’ve seen
In this part of the state.

But even if I never feel
That idyllic mood,
I’ve seen the same sky glowing
After sunset, and before the moon.
