You Must Go Out

You must go out
Every moonlit night
And dance in the shadows
While no one’s in sight.

Look at the stars,
Make up new constellations,
Seek out the planets,
Their wandering relations.

As the star light
Enters your eye,
You feel a tingle,
It settles inside.

Who knows what effect
That light could have had.
Maybe a molecule changed,
Maybe a cell didn’t halve.

Maybe a cosmic memory
Or celestial scent
Will be recalled one evening
In a dream you invent.
